Disposable plastic cups. What is still allowed in 2026?

February 16, 2026 | From the editors

In the fight against plastic waste, the rules regarding disposable cups have been tightened. From 2026, a complete ban on disposable plastic cups will apply at locations where on-site consumption takes place. This means that companies, schools, and institutions are required to offer alternatives.

The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate will actively enforce the rules. Disposable plastic cups are prohibited at locations such as offices, schools, museums, and healthcare institutions where consumption takes place on-site. It is therefore attractive for organizations to invest in reusable solutions, such as those offered by CupXchange.

The rules are clear: investing in reuse is the future. Organizations that take action now are therefore not only compliant but also contribute to sustainability and corporate social responsibility. This offers opportunities, not only for the environment but also for society.
