Defocus space for the office environment

In the modern office environment, employees are constantly exposed to stimuli: emails, notifications, conversations, and screens. This leads to overstimulation, resulting in symptoms like headaches, stress, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Often, intervention is only provided when the symptoms are advanced, while early destimulation is crucial to prevent absenteeism.

Defocusing in the workplace helps employees consciously create space for relaxation and recovery. Just as a computer works faster after a memory clearing, an employee performs better after a brief mental reset. This is already happening by integrating smart workplace concepts, such as acoustic solutions, relaxation furniture, and awareness programs.

The De-focus Room is being added to this. This is a special space where one can step away from the hustle and bustle and make room for recovery. Regardless of whether it concerns a receptionist, facilities employee, or board member. The result: more focus, less stress, and a more productive work environment. De-focusing is not a luxury, but a necessity for healthy working.

The De-focus Room has now been introduced at ROC Midden Nederland. There, it is already helping staff and students reduce stimuli and prevent overstimulation. The room is equipped with 4-Senses acoustic chairs, soothing lighting, and calming music, which reduces stress and promotes recovery.
