From greening the schoolyard to a play and learning area

May 19, 2026 | From the editors

For the integrated children's center De RegenboogI on Bloemenstraat in Bemmel, VDBH renovated and greened the schoolyard to create a stimulating play and learning space for children. Previously, the yard had a predominantly paved surface, which limited the possibilities for play and interaction.

The new layout now offers more space for play elements and green areas. Additions include the vegetable garden and the so-called 'outdoor classroom', which encourage creativity and enthusiasm among the pupils. A play and learning environment is important for the development of children and stimulates their senses.

In addition, attention has been paid to environmental aspects. Thanks to the new layout, rainwater can infiltrate better, contributing to a healthier environment. The modernization of the square is not only attractive but also functional and sustainable.

Although the new playground equipment was installed later due to delivery times, the project is a step in improving the students' living environment. VDBH's commitment to quality and sustainability is clearly evident in this project.

A project that demonstrates the importance of renovating and greening schoolyards.
