Hotel opts for smart logistics

May 12, 2026 | From the editors

During the construction of the Marriott Residence Inn in Ghent, a conscious choice was made for efficient internal logistics. Behind the hotel rooms and towels lies a system that significantly lightens the staff's daily work: the Stansz linen chute.

The system connects four floors directly to the central collection area. Used bedding and towels disappear from view with a single movement and travel automatically to the correct location. This means less lugging, less congestion in the elevators, and a quieter, cleaner work environment.

The installation in Ghent, commissioned by Cordeel (Temse), shows that modern hotels look beyond design and comfort. Smart solutions such as the Stansz waste chute save time and contribute to a sustainable, well-organized building.

For a chain like Marriott, this is not an experiment, but a step towards future-oriented hotel design: efficient, professional, and invisibly effective.
