Oxfam reduces business waste by 20% in one year

May 19, 2026 | From the editors

Oxfam Belgium, an organization committed to economic justice, has achieved a remarkable feat in collaboration with Seenons BE: a 20% reduction in the amount of business waste within one year. This result is the consequence of a strategic approach aimed at efficient waste management and recycling.

In the collaboration with Seenons, specializing in waste management, the emphasis was on reuse and reducing residual waste. Through an extensive analysis of waste management in their sorting center and stores, Oxfam discovered that many materials could still be recycled. This led to a reorganization of the waste sorting process.

Important steps in this regard included adjusting policy, providing additional collection containers, and training staff. As a result, materials such as plastics and ceramics can now be effectively separated and recycled. The collection of ICT equipment was also improved.

The collaboration led not only to a significant reduction in waste, but also to greater awareness of the importance of reuse. Oxfam and Seenons remain committed to a sustainable future and hope that other organizations will follow the same example.
