Tweesteden Hospital (ETZ) in Tilburg took a step toward sustainability. In line with the Dutch climate goals for 2030, the hospital opted to upgrade its existing lighting with LED technology and motion sensors. This decision stemmed from the desire to increase efficiency without major renovations.
Rather than completely replacing the lighting systems, ETZ officials opted for a smart approach. The upgrade required no new housings or extensive rewiring, leaving the ceilings untouched. This ensured that operations could proceed with minimal disruption to daily hospital activities.
The new LED modules were installed with great speed by the in-house staff, with each module installed in just ten minutes. Careful planning ensured that the hospital's 24/7 operations could continue without interruption.
The switch to LED lighting and motion sensors has resulted in energy savings of over 40%. This not only contributes to the hospital's sustainability but also to lower energy bills. With this upgrade, ETZ demonstrates that it is possible to contribute to a greener future in an innovative way.
