Facility services and building management in the cultural sector

Whether it's a theater, music center, museum, or library, no organization in the cultural sector can avoid facilities and/or building management. It doesn't matter whether they perform these tasks themselves, outsource them, or collaborate with other organizations. It also makes no difference whether the work is performed for their own staff, visitors, or guests. Regardless of the area of the organization, the level of involvement, the timeframe, the extent to which it takes place, or the desired outcome, facilities and/or building management are always a concern.

The areas in which this support of the primary process takes place are equally diverse. They range from visitor registration and sun blinds to security and relocations; and everything in between. They can be one-time or recurring, or relate to organizational processes, the building, presentation, facilities, workplaces, or the (work) environment.

Meaning

While the principles differ across sectors, many of the tasks in facility and building management are often recognizable to everyone. While the emphasis in the cultural sector is different, facility services and building management are often broadly similar compared to other sectors.

This is why the Facility & Building Management trade fair has been so well-established for over a quarter of a century. Since its inaugural edition in January 1999, this oldest event for facility services and building management has brought together thousands of suppliers and prospective clients every year to exchange knowledge, information, innovations, and/or insights into facility and building management.

Trading floor

Organizer HoLaPress Communicatie has successfully organized 24 consecutive three-day exhibitions, leaving both exhibitors and visitors satisfied. The first 18 editions were held at the Brabanthallen in 's-Hertogenbosch, and since 2019, at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht.

For the 25th edition, on June 5, 6, and 7, 2024, he once again aims to create a similar exhibition floor. For facility managers at cultural organizations, this means they will immediately feel welcome upon entering the exhibition floor, with free amenities such as coffee, water, storage, an exhibition catalog, and a map. During their visit, exhibitors and the exhibition organizers will provide them with the necessary lectures, presentations, business lunches, company meetings, and/or closing ceremonies. All in all, a complete trade event for facility managers and building managers in the cultural sector.

Website

In the lead-up to the Facility & Building Management trade fair, the trade fair organizers are actively and passively keeping all interested parties in the cultural sector informed of developments. They are actively doing so through newsletters and passively by regularly posting articles on this website. These articles cover the lecture program, new products, participant meetings, award ceremonies, exhibitor offerings, and other activities on the trade fair floor.

This website also serves as their source of information. The "Trade Fair Themes" section lists the various categories in which participants offer their services and products. Visitor Interests lists exhibitors' offerings on the trade fair floor. The "From Participants" section features various subcategories with information, knowledge contributions, solutions, etc., that exhibitors want to share with facility managers in the cultural sector. The FGNoviteitenprijs website also features descriptions of many of the new products offered by participants on the trade fair floor.

From April 1, 2024, facility (co-)managers can also register for free on this website as a visitor to the 25th edition of the Facility & Building Management trade fair, the leading event for facility services and building management.
