HoLaPress Communication organized the Municipal Facility trade fair on January 13, 14, and 15, 1999. The first edition was so successful that the following year, Business Facility, Education Facility, and Healthcare Facility were added. The "municipalities" section of the title was replaced by "Government Facility."
Since then, 25 more editions have followed. The eighteenth edition, held in 2016, added the Building Management trade fair, and the event was given its current title, Facility & Building Management Trade Fair. Until the coronavirus pandemic, the event was held annually in January, with the last edition in January 2020. After the pandemic, the trade fair was moved to June, with the first edition scheduled for 2022.
After organizing the first 18 editions, the trade fair moved to the Jaarbeurs in 2017, where the final and 26th edition took place in 2024. On Wednesday, June 5, Thursday, June 6, and Friday, June 7, 2024, the event will be held for the last time, as it will return to the Jaarbeurs on Tuesday, June 3, Wednesday, June 4, and Thursday, June 5, 2025. brabanthallen, where the 27th edition is scheduled for June 2, 3 and 4, 2026.
Over the course of its existence, various initiatives from the trade fair led to independent organizations. For example, the first separate newsletters soon appeared after the first edition, which in 2002 included Facility Journal emerged from. In the 2011 edition, the trade fair organization organized the first FG Novelties Award, which has grown into an independent prize, which will be awarded for the fifteenth time in the next edition for all suppliers in the field.
