HoLaPress Communicatie organized the Gemeente Facilitair trade fair on January 13, 14, and 15, 1999. That first edition was so successful that BedrijfsFacilitair, OnderwijsFacilitair, and ZorgFacilitair were added the following year. The municipalities were replaced by government bodies in the title.
Since then, another 26 editions followed. In the eighteenth edition, which took place in 2016, the Gebouwbeheer trade fair was added, and the event received its current title, Vakbeurs Facilitair & Gebouwbeheer. Until the COVID-19 pandemic, the event took place annually in January, the last time in January 2020. After the pandemic, the trade fair was organized in June from then on, the first time in 2022.
After the corona period
After organizing the first 18 editions, the trade fair moved to the Jaarbeurs in 2017, where the final and 26th edition took place in 2024. On Wednesday 5, Thursday 6, and Friday 7 June 2024 for the last time, as the event returned to the Brabanthallen on Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4, and Thursday 5 June 2025 , where the 28th edition is scheduled for 1, 2, and 3 June 2027.
Over the course of its existence, various initiatives from the trade fair led to the formation of independent organizations. For instance, the first standalone newsletters appeared soon after the first edition, from which the trade journal Facilitair Journaal emerged in 2002. Since then, the trade journal Facilitair Journaal has been replaced by the (digital) platform Facilitair Journaal. In the 2011 edition, the fair organizers held the first FG Innovation Prize , which grew into an independent award that will be presented for the sixteenth time on Tuesday, June 1, 2027.
